A Chilliwack woman says she got a huge scare earlier this month when she found out her close family friend had a medical problem while out for dinner.

Trisha Mercer says thankfully a nurse named Paula was at the same restaurant and performed CPR.

“She saved his life. She’s a hero. She was not working, I just recently found out that she’s retired and she didn’t even hesitate. She got in there and she saved him.”

Mercer says her friend means the world to her family and says she first met him when she needed a ride.

She says she later adopted him into her family after he had a stroke, and he’s become “Grampa” to her kids.

Mercer says she hopes to meet Paula in person to tell her how much her actions meant to her family.
