Vedder River cleanup this weekend

This Saturday is the annual spring cleanup of the Vedder River.
Vedder River Cleanup Society chair Chris Gadsen says over the years they’ve taken 100 tons of garbage of the river, and says people are making great strides in keeping it cleaner.

“We don’t find as much garbage as we used to out there.  When we first started in 2002 we had four cleanups a year.  When then moved to three a year and now we’re only doing two cleanups a year.”

Registration is at 8:30 Saturday morning, and everyone is meeting at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve on Sumas Prairie Road.
