SD33The Chilliwack school board was presented this week with three options for starting live broadcasts of meetings: a setup similar to how the City does council meetings, or two simpler methods using either one or two cameras.
Superintendent Evelyn Novak says the City’s method is substantially more expensive but might be higher quality.

“From what we’re told, it’s very efficient, effective and clear.  The other options are not as visibly attractive…there are more wires and cameras hanging.”

Novak says another advantage of the City’s method is having microphones with on/off keys instead of having the mics always on, which can get confusing if too many people speak at once.  Cost could be an issue though. The City’s method may be the most effective but would cost between $80,000 and $100,000, while the other options would be $12,000 to $15,000 plus the cost of the operators.
