The Chilliwack Park Society, with the help of some funding from the City, plan to build a wilderness park and trail system in the Community Forest south of Allan Road in the Eastern Hillsides.

The park include picnic facilities and trails for hiking and mountain biking.

Society director Mark Greidanus says the plan is to build the trails in two phases.

“Our plan for this year is to develop a 2.5 km beginners trail and then an additional 7 km trail off that one that offers moderate hiking and biking.”

Greidanus says they’d like to get the trails built by the end of September and says they’d love to get some volunteer help to do some of the grunt work.
