rcmp cruiserRCMP Traffic Services moved Operation Shield to Chilliwack Tuesday evening, trying to enforce laws to keep emergency and service vehicles safe.

The rule basically boils down to this: if you see blue, red, or yellow flashing lights, slow down and move over one lane to give the vehicles a wide berth.

Police say to use the 70/40 rule. If the speed limit is over 80 km/h, slow down to 70km/h, otherwise slow to 40km/h.

RCMP handed out 13 tickets in two and a half hours on Highway One between Young road and Popkum road.
