flaggerWorksafe BC has told the City of Chilliwack can no longer use flaggers to direct traffic at the Cultus Lake turnoff and the three way stop at the Vedder bridge.

The City had been using traffic control people through the summer months to help keep drivers moving efficiently.

However according to Worksafe, the traffic conditions create too much risk for the flaggers.

Starting this weekend there will be a worker manually operating signals at the intersections, based away from the flow of traffic.

It’s hoped that this will be enough to get cars through the intersection without causing too much congestion.
