A community non-partisan initiative called “Chilliwack Votes” hopes to get more people engaged in the upcoming federal election.
Co-founder Sam Waddington says they want to promote more interaction between voters and candidates.

“In terms of engagement, we are going to be planning open houses as well as community forums, but we want to do that mostly through an all candidates process, and have a few of them around the city.  So some different community groups will be hosting them and we’re going to be promoting those.”

Waddington says they are also planning a weekly question and answer for candidates and a fact sheet on federal issues, all of which will be posted on the Chilliwack Votes Facebook page and website.  The Facebook page can be found HERE, and the website should be up and running soon at www.chilliwackvotes.ca

The 11 week election campaign was launched this past weekend, and the election will be held this year on October 19th.
