No public hearing tonight on Chilliwack slaughterhouse

Turns out there will be no public hearing tonight now regarding plans for a new slaughterhouse in Chilliwack. That’s because the proponents have pulled their application. It’s not clear if the company, Meadow Valley Meats, bowed to public pressure or not….there was plenty of opposition to the project but there were also letters of support.
Most of the opposition was because of concerns about the smell, but the company had said that it wouldn’t be an issue. The proposed location was on Brannick Place near a number of Airport Rd businesses.
