(Submitted by Denise Wong)  Voting day in the 2015 federal election is October 19th, when polls are open for 12 hours.

If you are already registered to vote, your voter information card (sent by mail) tells you when and where to vote. If you have not received it by October 1st, you should check to ensure you are registered. Be sure to bring approved ID.

Make sure you’re registered to vote

Elections Canada has set up an Online Voter Registration Service. There, you can check if you’re registered to vote, update your voter registration address. Unregistered voters can also register at that website.

Not yet registered to vote?

You can register online with your BC driver’s licence by October 13th at 6 p.m.

Voters can also register by mail. Forms must be mailed bacy to Elections Canada by Tuesday, October 13th at 6 p.m.

You can also register at advance or election day polls, but Elections Canada recommends doing it ahead of time, as it’s easier and faster. Click here for a list of ID options if you are registering to vote, click here for ID options.

Advance voting days

Polls are open to advance voting from noon to 8 p.m. on the following days:
Friday, October 9th
Saturday, October 11th
Sunday, October 11th
Monday, October 12th

The address of your advance polling place can be found on the voter information card that has been sent out in the mail or online in Elections Canada’s Voter Information Service.

Vote at an Elections Canada office

You can vote at any Elections Canada office before Tuesday October 13th at 6 p.m. Offices are open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Bring your proof of identity and address.

Vote by mail

If you will be travelling outside your riding, you can vote by mail, but you need to apply for a voting kit. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, October 13th at 3 p.m. (Pacific).
