File # 2022-18812

The efforts of two Chilliwack RCMP officers undoubtedly contributed to saving a man’s life early Sunday morning.

At approximately 2:30 am on Sunday, May 29, 2022, members of the Chilliwack RCMP were in the 9200 block of Main Street when they were flagged down by an individual advising that there was a man in immediate medical distress. The officers arrived to find a male laying lifeless on the ground. His hands were turning white and he was not breathing. He did not have a pulse. The officers recognized that he was in medical distress associated to an apparent drug overdose and administered Naloxone before beginning chest compressions. The officers administered a total of three doses of Naloxone and continued chest compressions until the man became responsive. He was then transported to a local hospital where he received further medical treatment.

I am extremely proud of the quick action and emergency first aid that our Members provided to this individual on Sunday morning, says Supt. Davy Lee, Officer In Charge of the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment. The actions of these officers contributed to saving a man’s life. Our Members are trained in first aid and stepped in to help this individual who would likely have died otherwise.
