For the first time in its 36 year history, the BC and Yukon Outstanding Young Farmer Award has a second-generation winner.  Brian and Jewel Pauls of Chilliwack have won the award, 26 years after Brian’s parents, Frank and Elma, won it.  The Pauls own Rosewood Farms on Camp River Rd, but Brian also oversees the family’s multiple egg, broiler and turkey farms across BC and Saskatchewan.  They buy farms and hire families to live there and run them.  Nominees for the award have to be between 19 and 39 years old, and they’re judged on things like conservation practices, financial management and community contributions.  The Pauls will represent BC at the national young farmers competition in Ontario in November.
