Today we heard about Rocky. He’s a 1.5 year old Lab who used to live in a remote location. He got out into the wilderness and wrangled with an unknown animal. Once he made it home, he needed surgery to deal with some extensive wounds. As his previous owners couldn’t provide that care, he was surrendered to the SPCA.

Rocky has had surgery and is healing well. He is still wearing a cone as he finishes up the healing process.

Rocky is a sweet boy however he has not had formal training so he will need a family who is ready to help him with his manners. He loves people and tends to jump on them. He had not been used to walking on leash, but has started that at the shelter. Continued training and practice is needed as he moves into his new home. Once completely healed, Rocky would make a great hiking buddy for an active person/family. He would do best in a home with a fenced yard.

Although Rocky gets along well with all people, he can be picky about other dogs. The SPCA is not sure how he would do with cats but may do alright with proper introductions.

If you’d like to meet/adopt Rocky, please contact the Chilliwack SPCA at 604-823-6612.
