Chilliwack:  RCMP urge contractors to be vigilant while police investigate recent thefts of electric generators from two job sites.

On January 21 and 22, 2019 the Chilliwack RCMP received calls from contractors reporting the thefts of electrical generators from construction sites at the Vedder Mountain – Cultus Lake Roads round-about and  in the 45000-block of Kerr Road.

Following the examination of the 45000-block Kerr Road scene by general duty investigators police believe heavy equipment was used by thieves to transport the generator from the site.

The Cummings brand generator is described as white with red trim coloured Cummings generator displaying a United Rental logo mounted on an Onan trailer and a trailer mounted white- coloured generator marked ‘BA Blacktop’.

As officers continue to conduct proactive patrols the RCMP are alerting contractors to remain watchful and to immediately report any suspicious overnight activity in areas surrounding job sites.

“The stolen equipment has a total estimated value of over $90,000 with electric generators appearing to be the target,” says Corporal Mike Rail spokesperson for the UFVRD.

Anyone with information to these events is urged to contact the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or, should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
