Chilliwack Fire Department Responds to Structure Fire

On October 26th at approximately 4:15 am, the Chilliwack Fire Department was alerted to a report of a structure fire in the 51000 block of Old Yale Rd. Fire crews from Halls 1, 2, 4 and 6 responded to the scene and upon arrival discovered a large workshop with attached residential unit fully involved in fire and beginning to collapse.

Crews established a water supply utilizing water tender trucks and initiated a defensive attack on the fire. The occupants of the residential portion of the structure were able to safely exit the building and no civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. As a result of the heavy fire conditions present, the building was extensively damaged by the fire.

The cause of this fire is under investigation by fire department officials.
