Chilliwack Fire Department Responds to Structure Fire

 

On March 9th at approximately 1:40 pm, the Chilliwack Fire Department was alerted to a report of a structure fire in the 9400 block of Robson Street. Fire crews from Halls 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 responded to the scene and upon arrival discovered heavy smoke and flames showing from a two-story residential structure.

Crews established a water supply and brought the fire under control utilizing a defensive attack. Crews were able to prevent the spread of the fire to nearby structures, however the home did suffer extensive fire, smoke and water damage.

No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no firefighter injuries reported.

Fire crews were able to successfully rescue the homeowner’s dog from the home and assisted British Columbia Ambulance crews with providing the dog with some oxygen and water.

The Chilliwack Salvation Army responded to the scene and provided drinking water and nourishment to fire crews.

The cause of this fire is under investigation by fire department officials and is believed to be accidental in nature.
