Puppies at the Fraser Valley Regional District

Chilliwack, BC – On November 11, 2016 staff from the Fraser Valley Regional District’s CARE Centre were alerted to a litter of newborn puppies, orphaned by their mother and struggling for life in a rural area. Thanks to the quick action of the CARE Centre team, six of these puppies have survived.
“Animal control staff and volunteers from the FVRD have been working around the clock to nurse these puppies and ensure their wellbeing. I am so proud of our team for going above and beyond the call of duty and doing whatever it takes to save these animals,” said FVRD Board Chair Jason Lum.
While the puppies will not be ready for adoption until sometime in February, staff is hoping the public will help name the two female and four male puppies. Submissions can be sent to info@fvrd.ca until January 31.
“Caring for the puppies has been a real community effort,” said Lum. “Engaging the public in the naming of these puppies was a natural extension of that community effort.”
The FVRD provides animal control services to Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Harrison Hot Springs, Kent and Mission through its Community Animal Response and Education (CARE) Centre. The centre is open six days a week, Monday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The centre always has a number of dogs looking for their forever homes. For more information visit www.fvrd.ca/CARE.
