This week's Rick Mercer Report will feature some local scenery

Be sure to tune into the Rick Mercer Report Tuesday night….because Chilliwack and Cultus Lake will be featured!
Barb Taylor with the Chilliwack Centre of Excellence Paddling Club says the CBC host was in town back in November to do some paddling and kayaking. She says they couldn’t spill the beans at the time, but it all came together quite easily.

“He has done paddling before with Canadian athletes, so I sent a few emails off to the producer of his show and said he needs to come and do some slalom out here in Chilliwack.  I sent them some photos and told them how wonderful it is here, and they got back to us and said they would be coming out.”

She says they had a ton of fun with Mercer, and he really enjoyed his experience.

“He talked the whole time and had everybody smiling…he’s so friendly and funny and quick witted…and he’s not scared to do anything.”

They did paddling at Cultus, and then hit the rapids at Tamihi to do the slalom course.

Taylor says Chilliwack will look good, and the Kayak Club will look good…she says it’s a good news story for our community and local tourism.
