Intersection

Security Cameras from an intersection has made Chilliwack go viral.

It was initially uploaded locally but since the video has found its way to the front page of  Reddit’s r/videos (Warning: Adult Language in Title) which launched itself open to worldwide opinion. The video is a compilation of incidents at 1 intersection over the course of 2015. The video takes place at Reece Ave & Wililams St in Chilliwack and showcases a variety of incidents spanning from Hit & Runs, dangerous driving, and kids being bullied. This is all from one intersection mind you and is now opening itself to worldwide discussion as an overall reflection of Chilliwack.

Local RCMP were asked about this video and the area and issued this response:

Police have received complaints in the area of the video and remain pro-active in the region.  In every instance the complaint is taken seriously with a thorough investigation conducted.

Chilliwack RCMP advises local residents not to confront anyone disturbing the peace of the neighbourhood and to contact police.

This is a situation where the community and police have to work together to resolve neighbourhood issues.

As always we remind everyone, that immediately reporting all activity which appears suspicious or, out of the ordinary, can often aid officers in preventing a potential problem before it occurs.

A recommended community based program to assist in reducing crime is Block Watch where ‘neighbours watch out for neighbours’.

Anyone who wishes for more information regarding the Block Watch program or to make a report to police are urged to call Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611.

Those who wish to remain anonymous to report a crime may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
