(The Canadian Press) A young black bear has finally climbed down from a huge pear tree in Chilliwack, where it has been munching on fruit for several weeks.
Many had been watching the animal, affectionately called “Pear Bear”, as it clung to the branches of the tree near McCammon Elementary school and ate its fill.
Conservation officers had set up a live trap near the base of the tree in hopes of catching and relocating the animal.
But Pear Bear simply climbed down and wandered back into the bush.
