transmountainpipelineA group of Fraser Valley landowners who would be impacted by Kinder Morgan’s proposed Transmountain Pipeline aren’t satisfied with the compensation offer from the oil company.

Collaborative Group of Landowners Affected by Pipelines president Peter Reus says the group doesn’t want the one time lump sum that Kinder Morgan is offering.

“It’s every year that you’re faced with difficulties in regards to the pipeline so we think that it’s much better to get an annual payment. Because it’s not for us, it’s for our children and grandchildren, or if you sell the property to someone else.”

Reus says landowners will constantly have to work around markers on the land, and will have to call Kinder Morgan any time they need to do anything more than 30 cm deep.

He says he wants to emphasize that the group is not against the pipeline, feeling that it’s safer than rail cars for shipping certain materials.
