Reptile Guy trying to finalize move to Mission

Mike Hopcraft, who runs the Reptile Guy animal rescue centre, says he’s hoping to be able to finalize plans to move into a new location on First Avenue in downtown Mission.

Hopcraft says the building is perfect for his needs.

“There’s new owners of the building, and they completely gutted the whole thing so everything is going to be brand new. It’s about four times the size of what we have. There are windows in the building so we can actually have some light in there.”

Hopcraft says he’ll work out this week whether he can afford a renovation the new building needs.

“We need to be out of our current facility by the end of June so if we can’t have something figured out by the end of this week then we’re pretty much into June already and that’s not a whole lot of time to get things figured out. So we’re hoping to have something concrete and get the keys in our hand by the end of the week so we can start building stuff that we need to build in there.”

Hopcraft says he’s hoping people can help him out through his gofundme page, and also says he’s looking for people to help build the animal enclosures in the new building.
