Browne Creek InviteThe public is invited to a grand opening of the Browne Creek Wetlands trail network in Chilliwack this Thursday.

Mayor Sharon Gaetz says the area is part of a spawning channel network.

“This was constructed by the department of fisheries and oceans and the Fraser Valley Watersheds Coalition. And the City of Chilliwack and the Rotary Club partnered to put trails in there as well. So we’ll have two kilometers of trails along those spawning channels for people to check out.”

Gaetz says she sees a lot of potential for the network.

“I think this area will be used for kids coming to have sessions in their schools, people to come and find a solitary place to just sit and read or go for a walk. It is absolutely beautiful. And it’s really important to our environment and it’s really important to our trail system.”

Interpretive walks and rotary train excursions start at 10:30, and the official ceremony will be at noon.

People are welcome to park on Browne road north of Vedder Mountain road.
