Mayor expects good discussion for Higginson development hearing

Chilliwack mayor Sharon Gaetz says she expects the May 19th public hearing on rezoning land on Higginson road for development to be a robust discussion.

Gaetz says residents have seen the signs up around the property about the development for awhile and says she’s sure they will have a lot of questions.

“I would expect that this will be one that the neighborhood in particular, this is an established neighborhood off of Stevenson, that whole Higgenson area, that has been established for some time so they’ll want to see how it’s going to affect them.”

Gaetz says the City also wants to make sure that the development will have enough green space and parks.

The Agriculture Land Commission approved taking the land out of the reserve in early March.
