budgetThe City of Abbotsford’s budget, given three readings by Council last night, gives taxpayers a 0.41% reduction for the next year.

Acting mayor Patricia Ross says she’s pleased at the work staff did to obtain the decrease, but says the City may not be able to do it every year.

“I mean at some point if you don’t have increases, especially with the cost of living, it will catch up to you. So I don’t think that it could be a trend. But I’m proud of the work that we’ve had to date and all I can say is that we’ll try to keep it as low as possible every year.”

The main reason the City was able to lower taxes was because it no longer has to pay out money to the Abbotsford Heat.
